The FabberTool StringServer is a serving tool for center servings and end servings in bowstring building - and, of course, also for repairing worn or damaged strings. It was designed from the ground up for 3D printing, optimized through many development iterations, and even takes the regional availability of metric and imperial thread types into account.
As part of the Fabber product range, the FabberTool StringServer is a purely digital product. The central component is geometry data in STL format, from which real tools can be created using 3D printing. In addition to this geometry data, there is an (extended) PERSONAL USE license and a detailed tutorial with interesting additional information about the overall package.
The FabberTool StringServer package includes multiple different STL models to accommodate the various inner diameters and widths of virtually all serving thread spools available on the market. (Supported thread types are M6, M8, 1/4"-20 UNC, and 5/16"-24 UNF.)
To fully assemble a FabberTool StringServer, four hex bolts and four hex nuts are additionally required alongside the 3D-printed parts. These hardware components are not included in the download package and must be sourced separately!
By 3D printing at home (or at a service provider), the color of the tool can be freely selected. To match the bow, to match the serving thread, to match the outfit or simply to suit today's mood - everything is possible.
With the FabberTool StringServer, every serving thread spool finally gets its own dedicated home - safely protected within the fully enclosed frame. An additional serving tool adds only minimal cost while providing maximum convenience. Annoying spool changes become virtually a thing of the past, and every thread is instantly ready for use.
Especially during quick repairs on damaged servings, every second can matter. A serving tool that stays exactly where you place it can be a real lifesaver 😎
Unfortunately, serving thread spools from different manufacturers are not all the same width. Their inner diameters can also vary significantly. The adapters included in the complete package address not only spool width and diameter, but also both metric and imperial thread standards.
As a result, the FabberTool StringServer can be assembled using a wide range of bolt and nut thread types: M6, M8, 1/4"-20 UNC, and 5/16"-24 UNF.
Flip the thread around the back, feed it through the front - and the FabberTool StringServer is ready for use.
Even without additional components, the FabberTool StringServer feels exceptionally well-balanced in the hand and allows for fast, dynamic serving work. For even smoother, more efficient, and tighter serving, washers can additionally be fitted to all four bolts to increase rotational mass.
